Alexander Isak has been the talk of the town since the beginning of the transfer window. At first, the player was being linked with a move to Liverpool, but Newcastle were reluctant to sell their primary striker, and things cooled off.
Since then, Newcastle have been linked with a number of other strikers as potential candidates to partner with Isak. The general feeling among the Magpies fans was that the Swedish striker was staying. However, the player recently shocked many by demanding a £300k-per-week contract to remain at the club. This new development threw open the door to his future once again. His absence from the Magpies’ squad in the preseason friendly loss to Celtic didn’t help either.
After all the speculations, it looks like Isak has reached a final decision regarding his future at St James’ Park, and fans certainly won’t like it. Fabrizio Romano (originally reported by Craig Hope) recently posted on X stating that Isak has let Newcastle know of his desire to move this summer. The Magpies are aware of the player’s decision and will determine how to proceed. They have already started exploring a move for the Swedish striker.
Alexander Isak wants a move away from Newcastle this summer
Isak joined Newcastle in 2022 and hasn’t looked back ever since. He has scored as many as 62 goals for the club in three seasons and has been among the fan favourites. It’s really disheartening to see the Swedish international deciding to leave.
Newcastle are already in talks with Brentford to sign their striker Yoane Wissa as much need attacking reinforcement but the club will now have to make an additional signing to fill the void when Isak departs.
While this transfer window was supposed to strengthen the team, it seems as if the opposite has come true. Newcastle have made just one major signing in the form of Anthony Elanga and have missed out on several of their targets. On top of that, Sean Longstaff has already left the club, and this recent news of Isak will only add to the disappointments for Newcastle. That said, there’s still plenty of time left for the club to make some statement signings to turn things around. Let’s see how things pan out in the future.
