There will be plenty of Newcastle transfer rumours making the rounds as January approaches, as Eddie Howe is seeking a double Juventus hijack today.

Newcastle manager Eddie Howe is doing an excellent job. Ever since he took charge at St James Park, things have been flowing smoothly for the Magpies. Not only are they meeting objectives in the last few seasons but they are actively smashing them and don’t look to be stopping anytime soon.

However, it is important that Newcastle strengthen heavily in the January transfer window. Their squad doesn’t lack quality but it does lack quantity at the moment, with most of their star players out injured with long-term return dates.

Most notably, they are short of midfield options, which doesn’t help when you factor in the lengthy suspension for Sandro Tonali alongside said injuries. To cut a long story short, if Eddie Howe would like to continue playing with three central midfielders, then he needs to hope for a miracle between now and January, and then execute his transfer plans when the window opens.

Newcastle transfer rumour: Eddie Howe seeks double Juventus HIJACK

According to a report from Calciomercato, it could be a double transfer tussle between Newcastle and Juventus for two midfield options. The report states that both historic black and white clubs would like to strengthen in the centre of park, with Kalvin Phillips and Fabian Ruiz on the shortlist of both clubs.

Newcastle face PSG in the Champions League tonight, so it will be the perfect time for Eddie Howe to scout the latter option. However, he doesn’t need to scout Kalvin Phillips any longer given the midfielder’s Premier League and England international team experience – Howe knows what he offers and likes what he’s seen of the Manchester City man.
