Newcastle transfer news – Trevoh Chalobah’s price DROPS massively

If we cast our minds back to the summer transfer window, it was clear that Eddie Howe wanted to sign some new players to add to his depth for the busy season ahead. Given it was our first season back in the Champions League, we did just that by improving out squad depth with some excellent new additions.

However, one player who we all thought was going to be signed was Trevoh Chalobah. The Chelsea defender was linked with a move to St James Park but in the end, Chelsea’s asking price was too high for PIF to justify the investment.

According to a new report by the Daily Express, Chelsea are now willing to let Chalobah go for around £25m, which is significantly cheaper than we could have paid in the summer. However, be warned that Roma are also interested and we know that Jose Mourinho is very effective in the transfer market.

Newcastle transfer news – Ruben Neves is a thought of the past

Any remaining hope we had of signing Ruben Neves should be forgotten about. As much as we need a midfielder to come in and replace Sandro Tonali while he serves his ban, the Portuguese midfielder is not an option.

We tried to sign him on loan but other Premier League teams didn’t like that, and there’s no way we can sign him on a cut-price deal either. Even if that were an option, we have already reported that the player is not interested in a move away from Saudi Arabia in January.
