Newcastle transfer news – Eddie Howe linked to Harry Kane’s competitor

Newcastle are forced to spend in the January transfer window given their injury crisis. One particular area of concern for Eddie Howe is the striker role, with Alexander Isak and Callum Wilson both having injury difficulties at the start of this season.

With that in mind, the English manager has turned his attention to the German top flight where one particular goal scorer has caught his eye. Don’t get your hopes up as it isn’t Harry Kane but as far as goals scored in the German top flight are concerned, Newcastle will target the next best option.

That’s right, Chronicle are reporting that Newcastle are eyeing a January move for Serhou Guirassy. The Guinea forward who currently plays for Stuttgart is keeping up with Kane in the race for the Bundesliga top goal scorer, scoring an impressive 15 goals compared to Kane’s leading 17 goals.

Certainly, he would bring goals to this fearsome Newcastle attack.

Newcastle transfer news – Newcastle ready to bid for Kalvin Phillips

Another area of concern is the midfield. This is mainly due to the suspension for Sandro Tonali although admittedly, injuries haven’t helped the selection process in the midfield department for Eddie Howe.

According to a new report by The Northern Echo, Newcastle United want to sign Kalvin Phillips and are ready to bid for the Manchester City midfielder. Phillips, who has been called up for international duty, is out of favour at the Etihad Stadium, so may favour a midseason move to St James Park to boost his chances of making the EURO 2024 squad.
