Newcastle injury news – Eddie Howe confirms Callum Wilson injury scare
Unfortunately, there was an injury last night which was slightly swept under the carpet. Partly because we all thought it was for tactical reasons, but it turns out that Callum Wilson was actually subbed off at half-time through an injury concern.
As per a press conference shared by NUFC Blog, Eddie Howe revealed that Callum Wilson was subbed off through a tightness in his hamstring. The English striker, who has been plagued with injuries of late, will be assessed ahead of our return to Premier League action at the weekend.
One thing we can say for sure is that we hope Callum Wilson isn’t seriously injured. The call to take him off at half-time was a good one if it meant keeping the player safe. We have to take extra precautions with Alexander Isak also out injured.
The quick turnaround of fixtures, which was mentioned by Eddie Howe, hasn’t helped. Annoyingly, this is something we prepared for in the summer with signings, however, suspensions and injuries have all come on us thick and thin.
