As Eddie Howe prepares his Newcastle lineup vs Dortmund, there is one 20-year-old who simply has to make the cut.

There are many injury issues which have plagued Newcastle in recent weeks. The list of unavailable players for tonight’s fixture has risen to 12 players, although this does include players who are ineligible through suspension and UEFA competition rules.

Either way, it’s going to be difficult for Eddie Howe to name a full strength eleven tonight. Not only because some of his star players are injured, but also because he has to factor in squad rotation ahead of his Premier League campaign. Since the Magpies play at the weekend against Bournemouth, I imagine the Champions League fixture tonight against Dortmund will take priority.

One of the players who is out injured for Newcastle is a player who has played every Champions League game so far, Dan Burn. Not only is he injured tonight, but Eddie Howe has confirmed the Dan Burn injury to be a serious one and a setback which could last for a few months.

We wish Dan Burn a speedy recovery but one man’s loss could be another man’s gain. With the 20-year-old rapid defender Tino Livramento knocking on the door of the first team in recent weeks, tonight could be his chance to prove himself in the Champions League.

Tino Livramento came off the bench in the match against Arsenal, where Dan Burn picked up an injury. Since Livramento is best used as right-back, the versatility of Kieran Trippier comes in handy since he can move to left-back while Tino operates at right-back. This is how I expect Howe to lineup his defence tonight. For the full Newcastle predicted lineup vs Dortmund, click here.
