Newcastle are facing an injury crisis, but Eddie Howe has confirmed that his £55m sensation hasn’t travelled for Dortmund vs Newcastle.

It’s another big game for Newcastle this evening, as the important fixtures seem to be coming thick and fast for Eddie Howe. In fairness, despite the ongoing injury crisis at St James Park, the English boss has done well to rear up his team for a positive run of results.

However, one thing the Newcastle fans and players will want more than anything is a win at the Signal Iduna Park. Although they weren’t favoured to progress in the group of death, a win away from home this evening would do wonders for their chance of progression. Even a draw would be sufficient, in my opinion.

As mentioned, there is the looming injury crisis. While we’ve never been the luckiest with injuries, this seems a little bit excessive, even by our standards. As reported yesterday, there are 12 players who are ruled out of this evening’s fixture, including some big names like Dan Burn and Sandro Tonali.

They are still eligible to travel with the squad, though. Even if they are ineligible for their respective reasons, squad harmony could suggest that everybody is involved.

When asked whether Sandro Tonali had travelled with the squad, Eddie Howe answered no, as per the Shields Gazette. Although, he has still been training and impressing. For clarification, he is banned from playing matches, but is still eligible to train with the team, which is a silver lining for Newcastle.
