Newcastle player ratings vs Arsenal: Anthony Gordon shines in an Eddie Howe tactical masterclass
Newcastle United beat Arsenal at St. James’ Park by 1-0 as the Gunners suffer back-to-back losses. Here are the Newcastle player ratings vs Arsenal.
Newcastle player ratings vs Arsenal
GK: Nick Pope (6/10) – Nick Pope didn’t have much to do in the first half. Arsenal had only one shot in his goal and he didn’t have to move to save it. In the second half, Arsenal failed to test him that much. Thus, he would get an average score in the Newcastle player ratings vs Arsenal.
RB: Kieran Trippier (7/10) – Whether you play him as the right-back or left-back, Kieran Trippier will do a great job. When Livramento came on for Dan Burn and played in the right-back, he had to switch to the left-back position. He was superb in both positions.
CB: Jamal Lascelles (6/10) – When Sven Botman got injured, Geordies got scared because he was brilliant. However, Jamal Lascelles once again showed why Eddie Howe trusts him so much as the captain of this team. He looked solid defensively.
CB: Fabian Schar (6/10) – Newcastle’s defence wasn’t tested properly in this game and Arsenal failed to create any clear-cut chance. The credit for this has to go to the defence of the Magpies and Fabian Schar played a key role there. It was a good game for the Swiss international.
LB: Dan Burn (4/10) – Saka was causing trouble for Dan Burn. He didn’t look 100% fit in this game. Anthony Gordon was doing enough to save him. So, Eddie Howe had to take him off after the end of the first half.
- SUB: Tino Livramento (7/10) – Tino had to come in from the first minute of the second half. He played as the right-back as Tripper took the position of Dan Burn as the left-back. The 20-year-old looked confident as he did his job. Also, his crossing was impressive. All in all, he would get a high score in the Newcastle player ratings vs Arsenal.
