How often does Newcastle United goalkeeper Nick Pope get injured? This post runs through the Nick Pope injury history and updates of his current injury.

Since Newcastle United signed Nick Pope in June 2022 on an initial four-year contract, he has become an important member of the Eddie Howe team. In his first season with the Magpies, his excellent goalkeeping ability enabled Newcastle to qualify for the Champions League for the first time in a long while.

With that in mind, it’s important to both the manager and fans that the £10m goalkeeper remains injury free. While it’s a little easier to maintain that as a goalkeeper, it isn’t always possible.

This post will run through the Nick Pope injury history and updates on his recent injury.

Nick Pope shoulder injury, December 2023

Nick Pope hand injury, May 2023

Prior to the last game of the 2022-23 season, Nick Pope picked up an unfortunate hand injury, which meant he would miss the final game of the season against Chelsea.

Given their opponent’s poor season with nothing to fight for and the fact that Champions League football had already been secured, it was no real detriment to Eddie Howe, who instead opted for Martin Dubravka between the sticks.

Thankfully, Nick Pope recovered well throughout pre-season and was able to start the following season.

Nick Pope was nursing thigh problems towards the end of March 2023. From a Newcastle perspective, though, he didn’t miss any games since this was during the international break.

Nick Pope returned to action in time to face Manchester United, which was one of the biggest matches of the Magpies’ season since this is the club they’d battle it out for third and fourth place. In the end, the Magpies won the match and Nick Pope kept a clean sheet. Win win.
