Newcastle wants to extend the contract of another midfielder after Bruno Guimaraes

Newcastle wants to extend the contract of midfielder Sean Longstaff with his current contract expiring in 2025. Eddie Howe wants the midfielder to stay.

Newcastle United are looking to extend the contracts of those players who helped the Magpies become a prominent figure in European football. One of the main figures in Newcastle’s midfield, Bruno Guimaraes has already agreed to extend his stay with the Magpies until 2028. Apart from Bruno, there was another midfielder who played a pivotal role in last year’s success of the Tyneside and his name is Sean Longstaff. Sometimes, the English midfielder doesn’t get the praise he deserves. Yes, he doesn’t get on the score sheet that often. But, with him in the squad, Newcastle plays differently.

The current contract of Sean Longstaff is expiring in 2025. Therefore, Eddie Howe and the Newcastle board have decided that they would need to extend the contract of the English midfielder who has played a key role in the success of the Magpies. Look, Eddie Howe knows that he needs a core of quality players whom he can trust to deliver consistently. And, that is why he is looking to extend the contracts of his key players. Sean Longstaff is surely one of those players that Eddie Howe can trust to deliver a job in the midfield on any given day.

So, according to Football Insider, Newcastle have already started new contract talks with Sean Longstaff. After Bruno Guimaraes and Callum Wilson, Longstaff is one of those players that Eddie Howe wants to stay desperately. Therefore, the Magpies have made his contract extension a priority. How long the new contract will be for the 25-year-old English midfielder is still unknown. But, one can assume that it will be an important contract for the player.
