On Talk Sports, ex-Arsenal player Martin Keown said Anthony Gordon is one Newcastle player who can start for the current Arsenal team in the Premier League.

The current Arsenal team is one of the best they had in recent years. And, Newcastle is also a team on the up. So, the ex-Arsenal player and the legend of the club, Martin Keown, thinks that there is a player in the Newcastle squad who can start for the current Arsenal team. The name of the player is Anthony Gordon. Eddie Howe signed Gordon from Everton by paying a fee of around £40m. However, the winger had a slow start to his career at the Tyneside. Eddie Howe and Newcastle had to be patient to see the result of their January investment.

After a very fruitful pre-season, the former Everton winger is now showing his worth. He has already notched up 2 goals and 2 assists for the season. This made the Arsenal legend pick Anthony Gordon when he was asked by Simon Jordan on Talk Sports whether he would get into this Arsenal team or not. Keown said;

"“I think he would, yeah. He would right now, [Gabriel] Martinelli’s injured.”"

Getting praise from a legend like Martin Keown is huge for Anthony Gordon. Keown had made 400 appearances for Arsenal. So, if a player of his stature praises a 22-year-old player, it means that Eddie Howe and Newcastle didn’t make any mistake by investing such a large amount of money in Anthony Gordon.

Both Arsenal and Newcastle qualified for the Champions League this season and both teams have got managers who are very talented and doing a great job for their teams. With Eddie Howe as his manager, it is expected that Gordon will improve further at Newcastle helping the Magpies reach the glory of winning a major trophy for the first time since 1955 when the Tyneside brought home the coveted FA Cup.
