Manchester City generally play with a 4-2-3-1 formation. However, sometimes they changed to 4-3-3 as well. But, for this game vs Newcastle, Pep Guardiola might play with their traditional 4-2-3-1 formation. Now, in goal, Ederson is expected to get a rest and Stefan Ortega might start in his place. Ruben Dias will also get a rest alongside Nathan Ake. So, you can see Josko Gvardiol and Manuel Akanji as the centre-back pair for the Citizens. In the right-back, Pep might play Rico Lewis and the Spaniard Sergio Gomez could be his left-back.

In the midfield, Kalvin Phillips might get his much-needed start for Man City and to partner him in the middle of the park, Pep might trust his new Portuguese signing, Matheus Nunes. Jack Grealish might start as number 10 for City in this game as played there sometimes for Villa in the past.

When it comes to the forward line for City, Jeremy Doku could start on the right and the English winger Phil Foden might get the duty on the left wing for the Citizens. And, the Argentinian, Julian Alvarez will be City’s centre forward because Pep will look to rest Erling Haaland for this game.
