Callum Wilson signs a one-year contract extension at Newcastle United untill 2025
Callum Wilson has signed a one-year contract extension at Newcastle United. He will be at the club till 2025. Wilson is a big part of Eddie Howe’s project.
One of the priorities for Newcastle United was the contract extension of Callum Wilson. As reported before, the talks for a new contract were ongoing. Now finally, Callum Wilson has committed his future at St James’ Park as he is set to stay until 2025. The 31-year-old has been a key part of Newcastle’s resurgence and his 18 goals in 31 Premier League games last season propelled the Magpies into the Champions League. So, Eddie Howe and Newcastle were very happy with him. Thus, it was inevitable that he would get a contract extension. But, due to his age, it was unlikely that Wilson would get a long-term deal. Thus, both Newcastle and Wilson decided to extend the contract for one more year.
What did Callum Wilson say after the contract extension at Newcastle United?
Callum Wilson was ‘delighted’ to extend his stay at Newcastle United as he said;
"“I’m delighted to extend my time here. It’s a fantastic football club, I’ve been welcomed ever since I came through the door and now the club’s going in a fantastic direction and on a journey so it’s nice to commit my future to be to being a part of that.”"
Newcastle manager Eddie Howe also had his say on Callum Wilson’s contract extension;
"“We’re very pleased because Callum has been an integral part of our success. He’s an outstanding person, an outstanding footballer and I’m delighted he’s going to be with us for longer.”"
This contract extension will surely give stability to Newcastle’s squad as they look to start their Champions League campaign after 20 years at San Siro.
