Newcastle United has been an impressive standout team this season winning 10 games, tieing 11 and losing just three in league play after being just six spots away from regulation last season.

While the team has surely beaten expectations this season being the sixth-ranked team in the Premier League, the question remains on what the ceiling is for this young team. A supercomputer that puts together a prediction on the Premier League season, has placed Newcastle United in a peculiar spot to finish the year.

After heading into 2023 with just one league loss under their belt, Newcastle United has struggled recently winning just one league match, tieing four and losing two since January.

While some of the struggles and losses can be in due part to recent issues revolving around suspensions and injuries, the most recent supercomputer results have dropped Newcastle down drastically in the team’s predicted finish to the season.

According to FiveThirtyEight, Newcastle United is projected to finish the 2022-2023 season in seventh place of the Premier League table. They are projected to finish with 64 total points, with a goal differential of +23.

The team’s end of year probility for making it to the UEFA Champions League next season sits at just 24%, which is 16% lower than it was weeks ago.

They also have a 19% chance of finishing 6th or 5th, a 15% chance of placing 4th, and a 9% chance of placing 3rd. If the team wanted to place 1st or 2nd, unfortunately it would be less than a 1% chance of happening.

The six teams to finish ahead of Newcastle are Arsenal, Manchester City, Manchester United, Liverpool, Tottenham and Brighton, in that order.
