In their most four recent contests Arsenal has had its fair share of struggles. To finish January, they lost to Manchester City, 1-0, then to start February they fell 1-0 against Everton. In their two most recent, they tied Brentford 1-1 and fell 3-1 to Machester City once again.
With recent losses plaguing the team, Newcastle United has found itself in a perfect chance to climb the Premier League table.
Today, the loss to Man City instantly made the No. 1 spot of the table a reality for all teams within the top five.
- Manchester City- 51
- Arsenal- 51
- Manchester United- 46
- Newcastle United- 41
- Tottenham- 39
Newcastle has the goal differential over Man United in fourth and is behind by just five points. While Arsenal is in rough form, Newcastle has not lost a league game since August, giving them some momentum to shoot up the table.
Arsenal has also given up six goals in their last four games while scoring just two. Their current goal differential sits at 26 though, as they have given up the second least amount of goals on the season.
On the Newcastle side of things, they’ve hit a wall in recent weeks offensively as they’ve scored just four and given up three.
If they can find an offensive rhythm as the season comes to its close, they have a prime shot at climbing the table. The winning needs to start against Liverpool, and from there they can build momentum. A loss against Liverpool may shoot their confidence into the ground, especially the week before the Carabao Cup Final.
After the Cup Final, Newcastle takes on Man City, Man United once again, Tottenham and then Arsenal, showcasing that down the stretch the team needs to be in top form.
Newcastle United looks to avenge their recent ties with a big win over Liverpool this coming weekend.
