Newcastle United appear to be headed towards a very important summer transfer window. The club have taken huge strides in the right direction over the past few months and now, it feels like with a few more additions, they could potentially challenge for a top six spot as early as next season.

That is a remarkable turnaround from the Magpies, because at the turn of the year, just avoiding relegation would be viewed as an incredible success. Howe’s side have raised the game to the next level though and are set for a very respectable finish.

Thus, Howe has already shown that he should be backed by the club in the upcoming summer transfer window and all indications suggest that that will be the case as well.

The club have been linked with a number of goalkeepers in recent times, as it looks like that is a position that they are looking to improve in despite of the solid performances that Martin Dubravka has put in goal over the past several months. Thus, names like Kepa Arrizabalaga, Bernd Leno, Jordan Pickford and many others have been brought up as potential targets but it looks like it is Manchester United’s Dean Henderson who could be headed to St James’ Park.

As reported by Manchester Evening News, Henderson is closing in on a move to Newcastle United and was in Newcastle on Wednesday for talks. It is believed that discussions over a season-long loan have been held but a permanent move has not been ruled out either.

Henderson had managed to move ahead of David de Gea in the pecking order in the second half of last season but has lost his place in the starting XI in this campaign.

As a result, he has been linked with a move away from Manchester United for months and Newcastle United were believed to be interested in January as well but that did not transpire.
