Newcastle United appear to be in search of a new goalkeeper this summer despite the solid performances that Martin Dubravka has put in under the management of Eddie Howe. It looks like the club feel that that is a position that they can improve in and as a result, have been linked with multiple high profile names there.

Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga and Manchester United’s Dean Henderson are just two of the names that have done the rounds of the rumour mill.

But the biggest surprise was when Newcastle United were linked with Everton’s Jordan Pickford. It is safe to say that it would be a highly controversial move if did take place, owing to the goalkeeper’s connections with Sunderland.

And it appears that is what could come in the way of the deal taking place even if the club have taken a look at the situation of Pickford. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, Alex Crook said about the situation:

"“Jordan Pickford, I think, is someone they’ve looked at but might be too difficult with the Sunderland connection.”"

Thus, it looks like a move for Pickford to Newcastle United is unlikely at this point of time and understandably so.

It is safe to say that the majority of the fans would not want to see that move happen. And on the other hand, it does look like there is a solid chance that Everton might end up staying up in the Premier League after all after putting in some improved displays in recent weeks and rising out of the relegation zone.

In that scenario, it is very possible that the Merseyside club would hold on to Pickford. Even though it must be pointed out that the race is still tight between them, Leeds United and Burnley, to avoid finishing 18th.

And when it comes to Newcastle United, it would be best for them if they looked at other players in search of their next goalkeeper this summer.
