Eddie Howe makes Newcastle United summer transfer window claim
Newcastle United fans would be hoping that the club give Eddie Howe the backing that he deserves this summer, after guiding the Magpies from the relegation zone to the top half of the Premier League table within such a short span of time. And all indications till now have suggested that they will do that.
The club have continued to be linked with one huge name after the other but we will only know whether there is any truth to any of those rumours when the transfer window reopens.
The club brought in Kieran Trippier, Bruno Guimaraes, Chris Wood and Dan Burn in January while also signing Matt Targett on loan from Aston Villa till the end of the season. Thus, they added a mix of class and Premier League experience and it has worked perfectly for them till now.
Thus, one has to wonder whether they would look to repeat the trick in the summer as well. When asked about it, as reported by Newcastle World, Howe said:
"“I’m open-minded if it’s the right player for the position. You do have to have an eye on the future.“I don’t think you can be blind to the fact that if you have a squad that’s at the wrong ages then you can give yourself problems one, two, three years down the line. We don’t want to put ourselves in that position.“Ideally, you want experience, players that, ideally, have played in the Premier League but, as with Bruno, who’s none of those things, he was the right signing for that position at that time.“We will take it on an individual basis while acknowledging the fact the club will always have a future and we have to protect that.”"
Howe makes Newcastle United summer transfer window claim
Newcastle United have been linked with some of the most highly-rated young strikers in the world in recent days and weeks in the form of Darwin Nunez, Victor Osimhen and Hugo Ekitike.
They have been linked with several goalkeepers as well as that looks like a position that the club are keen to strengthen in as well along with central midfield and central defence.
Newcastle United splashed out around £90 million in transfer fees in the January transfer window and it would not come as a huge surprise if they do something similar this summer as well.
It is safe to say that this is a very exciting time to be a Newcastle United fan and let’s see what the future brings from here on forward.
