Newcastle United are heading towards one of their most important transfer windows in a long, long time. The club did a wonderful job in January of strengthening the squad and have reaped the benefits of that. Relegation was a real danger for them at the turn of the year but since then, The Magpies have been one of the most in-form teams in the entire Premier League.

Thus, not only have they managed to stay up but there is a chance that they could finish in the top half of the table. If that happens, it would be one of the most remarkable turnarounds in English football history.

One would hope though that the club would back Eddie Howe this summer and bring in more top quality options. The next target has to be qualifying for Europe. Thus, while one would expect new players to come in, some could be headed in the opposite direction as well.

One player who has been linked with a move away for a while is Allan Saint-Maximin. And while the noise coming out of the club has suggested that he will be staying on, the rumours just refuse to go away. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, transfer insider Dean Jones said:

"“He’s not going to be Newcastle’s star man anymore. I think he’s going to be looking for a new club. I don’t think he’ll deliver every week; I think that’s why Newcastle are ready to move on beyond him.”"

Could Saint-Maximin leave Newcastle United in the near future?

On top of his game, Saint-Maximin is one of the most exciting players in the entire Premier League and is a handful for any defence.

But at the same time, even the most optimistic Newcastle United fan would have to admit that he has been nowhere near his best for a while now and has been struggling to make his mark on games.

Thus, it will be very interesting to see what Newcastle United would do if a big transfer offer came in for Saint-Maximin in the summer.
