Fabrizio Romano confirms Newcastle United target will leave this summer
Newcastle United are expected to be strengthening in a number of positions in the upcoming summer transfer window and signing a new striker might be on top of their wish list. They have been linked with several players capable of playing up top in recent weeks and months, and it will be interesting to see who they end up going after.
One of the more interesting names on the list of strikers that Newcastle United have been linked with is that of Gianluca Scamacca.
The 23-year-old striker currently plays for Sassuolo and has been able to make quite an impression during his time at the club, even though they sit in the Serie A midtable. According to stats from Transfermarkt, he has scored 13 goals and provide 1 assist in 35 appearances across all competitions this season.
Scamacca is a massive physical presence up top as well, standing at a towering 6 feet 5 inches. Also, despite being just 23 years of age, he is already a well-travelled player. Thus, it is not hard to see why Newcastle United might be interested in signing him.

As reported by TEAMtalk, while speaking on the Rio Ferdinand Presents FIVE YouTube channel, Fabrizio Romano said about Scamacca’s future:
"“Yes, yes, he will leave Sassuolo.“He extended the contract a few days ago but he will leave Sassuolo.“It was an extension to allow a potential loan with obligation to buy clause.”"
Scamacca signed a contract extension with Sassuolo just recently but it appears that the plan is for him to be departing the club in the summer.
There is a lot of interest in the striker’s signature, who has already made a few appearances for the Italy national team. Both AC Milan and Inter Milan have been linked with the 23-year-old for quite some time now. He is also believed to be Napoli’s first choice in case Victor Osimhen leaves. And other than Newcastle United, Arsenal are also rumoured to be looking to bring him to the Premier League.
