Newcastle United sent warning about Lucas Paqueta
Newcastle United have been linked with several exciting names in recent weeks as it is believed that the club will splash out in the upcoming summer transfer window. One of the names is that of Brazilian international, Lucas Paqueta, who currently plays for Lyon and had enjoyed a great partnership with Bruno Guimaraes there before the midfielder’s January move to St James’ Park.
It is safe to say that if Newcastle United are able to sign Paqueta, most fans would consider it as a major coup on the part of the club. Not only will it give them the chance to recreate the partnership that he has with Guimaraes, but he is the type of player that Eddie Howe can build his midfield around for years to come.
It will not be easy to bring him to the club though as it is believed that Lyon will be looking for a transfer fee around £58 million to part ways with Paqueta, which means Newcastle United will have to shatter their record to sign him.
Not everybody seems to be convinced that signing Paqueta would be a good move though, with one of them being journalist Dean Jones. As reported by GIVEMESPORT, he said:
"“Paqueta is more of a gamble, from what I’ve seen of him, who’d cost a lot of money, wages and the type of player he is, I think is susceptible to being a flop in English football because it’s going to be about confidence with him.“And if he didn’t have a good start, I’d be worried about how it pans out for him.”"
Would signing Paqueta be a good move on the part of Newcastle United?
It is safe to say that there is an element of risk involved every time a Premier League club signs a player from a foreign league. The English game is arguably the toughest in the world to adjust to.
Whether Paqueta would be a good signing or not has to be decided by Howe and the recruitment team before making any move.
It must be pointed out though that Paqueta does have a history of struggling at certain clubs, as he never managed to get his AC Milan career off the ground floor. Thus, Newcastle United have to be very careful before making a move of this magnitude for the Brazilian international.
