After a draw vs. Spurs, Newcastle United will look to keep the momentum going against Burnley this weekend. The Magpies will be hoping for a repeat performance of the reverse fixture.

Back in October at St. James’ Park, Newcastle picked up a comfortable, 3-1 win over the Clarets. For Steve Bruce’s side, it was the usual suspects doing the offensive work in the victory.

Allan Saint-Maximin, returning from an ankle injury, had a great individual play as he scored the opening goal. After Burnley had equalized, ASM would work some of his magic again in the second half and put the ball on a plate for Callum Wilson’s first goal on the day.

With the result still in question, Nick Pope helped secure the three points for Newcastle. The Burnley goalkeeper had a poor touch on the ball and as Ryan Fraser looked to capitalize, Pope took him out and awarded the Magpies a penalty in the 77th minute.

Saint-Maximin, Wilson carry Newcastle United in a convincing win over Burnley in October.

Wilson stepped up and converted to give NUFC a two-goal lead and all three points once the final whistle was blown. It was a signature match for Wilson and ASM, who did have to sub off due to an ankle injury.

The win pushed Newcastle United up to 9th on the Premier League table the following day after just four matches played. They would go into an international break and fail to keep the momentum going, losing 4-1 to Manchester United in their next EPL fixture.

This will be Newcastle United’s chance to take a season sweep for the second time this season, already defeating Everton twice on the campaign.
