Along with the goalscorer Wilson, which Newcastle United player had the best performance vs. Everton?

Newcastle United finally broke out of their slump today with a quality 2-0 victory over Everton. Ending the 11-match winless run, the Magpies had positive play across the pitch. We grade the performances from Newcastle United’s winning squad today.

Karl Darlow: A-

With some fans clamoring for a return of Martin Dubravka, Darlow was able to pick up a clean sheet away from home. He wasn’t tested often, but he made the right plays when needed. Picked up a yellow card for time wasting in the second half.

Javier Manquillo: A

Back in his starting role at right-back, Javi looked good at both ends of the pitch. He was able to deal with Richarlison and the attacking group down his flank while also getting forward to keep the pressure on Everton to defend. He’s the best right-back at Newcastle when healthy and playing this well.

Fabian Schar: A-

Outside of his hair now being a man bun, Schar is looking an awful lot like the 2018-19 version for Newcastle United. He was composed but physical, and locked in defensively to help Darlow keep Everton off the board.

Isaac Hayden: A

If you watch Hayden playing in central defense, you wouldn’t assume that he’s playing out of position. He was steady in defense and helped Newcastle United hold more of the ball than they have lately.
