Newcastle United will regret missing out on this star striker

Desperate for a striker, a Newcastle United target is thriving with his new club.

Newcastle United look to be entering this season with a lot of question marks at striker. With an obvious need for production there, the club has been linked with multiple target forwards over the past few seasons. One of the players they had rumored interest is making a statement with his new club and that will only cause more hurt for the Newcastle supporters.

Newcastle United were reportedly battling with Spurs and Napoli for the signature of Victor Osimhen. It was Napoli that secured his arrival from Lille, where he scored 18 goals in one season with the French side. Ahead of the Serie A season, the Nigerian striker is off to a scorching hot start with his new club.

Osimhen has scored hat tricks in back-to-back friendlies for Napoli. He’s looking every bit of the striker they hoped he would be when they signed him back in July. The Serie A campaign gets underway on 9/20 for Gennaro Gattuso’s side as they face Parma. Osimhen will be expected to contribute next to attacking talent like Dries Mertens, Lorenzo Insigne, and Hirving “Chucky” Lozano.

For the Magpies, they wouldn’t have been able to afford the 70-plus million fee that it would’ve taken to sign him. Also, there were rumors that Osimhen wasn’t interested in joining the club, but it will still hurt to see the 21-year-old excell with his new club while Newcastle tries to find goals from a patchwork group at striker.
