Newcastle United are expected to be active this summer as they hunt for new strikers.

Newcastle United will be in action this weekend when they host Sheffield United. All eyes will be on Joelinton to see if the Brazilian can turn his form around after only scoring one goal.

Steve Bruce has vowed to scrap the team’s defensive tactics in the final nine games seeing that Newcastle United have only scored 25 goals in 29 games. The Magpies are desperate for new tactics, but the front line is also in need of some new talent.

Dwight Gayle and Andy Carroll failed to have meaningful impacts on the squad, and Yoshinori Muto is not cut out for the Premier League. As a result, Newcastle United have been linked to several players, but the list continues to grow.

According to a new report, Newcastle United have thrown their hat in the race for Czech international Patrik Schick. The 24-year-old is under contract with AS Roma, but has spent the season on loan at RB Leipzig.

So far this season, Schick has found the back of the net 10 times in 20 Bundesliga appearances. The Czech striker has found success in Germany, but the narrative has been quite different in Italy.

Schick enjoyed great form in his lone season at Sampdoria with 11 goals and four assists in 2016, but he only scored a total of five goals in 46 league games for AS Roma in 2017 and 2018.

The Italian giants are looking to offload some wages from their books and have made Schick available for £23.3m. Newcastle United can afford that price, but they have competition from teams like Tottenham and Everton for his services.

RB Leipzig have not indicated whether they will look to make his move permanent. If the Magpies are serious about Schick they must act quickly as soon as the transfer window opens.

His record at AS Roma is poor, but his form at Sampdoria and RB Leipzig shows that he is worthy of an investment. Should the Toon pursue the Czech striker? Let us know in the comments section below.
