Newcastle United will have to cut Saturday’s victory celebrations short as they travel to Goodison Park to face Everton tomorrow evening.

Newcastle United stunned Chelsea in the dying moments of the game on Saturday when Isaac Hayden got on the end of Allan Saint-Maximin’s cross to score the winner in the 94th minute. As exciting as that victory over a top four side was, the players need to cut their celebrations short and turn their attention to tomorrow’s game against Everton.

Where They Stand

  • Everton: 11th place, 29 points (GD: -7)
  • Newcastle United: 12th place, 29 points (GD: -12)

Players To Watch

  • Richarlison: 8 goals, 3 assists
  • Dominic Calvert-Lewin: 9 goals (Everton’s top scorer)
  • Miguel Almiron: 2 goals, 1 assist
  • Allan Saint-Maximin: 1 goal, 1 assist

Analysis

Newcastle United have claimed four points in back-to-back games against top six opposition, and three more points tomorrow would see the Magpies break into the top ten with 32 points with four months remaining in the season. Everton defeated Newcastle United at St. James’ Park a few weeks ago and Carlo Ancelotti’s men went on to claim four more points after that victory.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison have combined to score 17 of Everton’s 26 goals this season, which equates to 65% of the team’s goals. What does that mean for Newcastle United? Well, if they can contain Calvert-Lewin and Richarlison, they can defeat Everton on the road, however, that defensive task is quite the challenge.

With 22 goals scored this season, Newcastle United are the second-lowest scoring team in the Premier League and they have only scored multiple goals in five games this season. In order to beat Everton on the road, Steve Bruce’s men will need to score at least two goals. At the moment, Miguel Almiron is most likely to score for Newcastle United. His resurgence has come at a perfect time, but the Magpies need to feed him with the ball out wide much more than they did in their last game against Chelsea.

Both teams have been struggling with consistency in defense. There are times when both defensive units are stubborn and make life difficult for opposing attackers, but they also tend to slip up and concede goals from shocking individual errors. That being said, both teams should have their fair share of chances to score some goals.

Next. Matt Ritchie will need to step up for Newcastle United. dark

Predictions

Newcastle United are only a handful of wins away from avoiding relegation. Carson and I are, once again, optimistic that the Magpies can take something from this game, but three points will be hard to come by away from home on such short notice. See our score predictions below:

  • Carson A. Merk: Everton 1-1 Newcastle United
  • Durim Halimi: Everton 0-0 Newcastle United
