Newcastle United should take a look at this trio currently playing in Mexico.

We are entering the final stages of June and the Premier League transfer window will start to get busy over the next few weeks. With no signings for Newcastle United yet, the club needs to identify some potential targets, no matter who will be coaching or buying the players. Today, we look at a trio of players in Mexico’s Liga MX that could make sense for the Magpies, not including Edson Alvarez who was mentioned in our Gold Cup scouting list.

Orbelin Pineda

23 years old, central midfield, Cruz Azul

The skillful dribbler moved from Chivas to Cruz Azul this winter, reportedly for around 10 million. He made 16 appearances with his new club and finished with two goals and three assists. His dribbling ability and vision passing the ball allow for him to control the midfield in Liga MX.

Jonathan Gonzalez

20 years old, defensive midfield, Monterrey

Once involved in a much-publicized switch from the United States national team system to join El Tri, the young holding midfielder has worked his way into the first-choice lineup for Monterrey. He made his senior team debut back in 2017. He brings quality vision and work rate to the defensive midfield.

Rodolfo Pizarro

25 years old, attacking midfield, Monterrey

After moving from Chivas to Monterrey for a record fee within Liga MX, Pizarro registered seven goals and five assists across all competitions in 2018-19. He has good pace and is tricky in the final third. Yesterday, he made his 2019 Gold Cup debut for El Tri and registered an assist off the bench.
