Newcastle United will look to rebound from their loss against Wolves with a win against Huddersfield Town tomorrow.

Newcastle United and Huddersfield are set to face each other tomorrow at the Kirklees Stadium for what will be a crucial match for both sides. Newcastle and Huddersfield are hanging around the bottom of the table with 13 points and 10 points, respectively.

After starting this month with one draw and two losses, Newcastle should be extra motivated to face a lenient opponent and win in order to climb further away from the bottom three. Huddersfield, on the other hand, are looking to escape the relegation zone with a home victory that would place them on level footing with Newcastle in terms of points.

The kick-off is scheduled for 3:00PM and the Terriers’ supporters will certainly play their part in creating an intense environment for the visitors from Tyneside. Newcastle struggled against Huddersfield on the road last season, but the Magpies must find a way to score some goals and secure three much-needed points.

Open Match

Although neither team has any offensive flare, supporters should expect a fairly open match with plenty of back-and-forth football. Huddersfield have conceded the fourth most goals in the league this season (27) and this will incite Newcastle to attack down both wings, through long-balls from Ki Sung-yueng and through set pieces. The more touches that Salomon Rondon gets on the ball, the better Newcastle’s chances are of scoring some goals.

On the contrary, because we should expect Newcastle to send more bodies forward against a vulnerable defense, Huddersfield should have some chances to build a few counter attacks down the middle, especially if Newcastle’s wing-backs are higher up the field.

While Benitez will place emphasis on attacking Huddersfield, the Magpies’ back-line must be cautious and must stay focused in order to avoid overworking Martin Dubravka in goal. Huddersfield are struggling to score goals as they have only managed to score ten times in 16 matches, but Newcastle have been lazy when it comes to marking players in recent weeks.

All six goals that Newcastle conceded against West Ham (three), Everton (one) and Wolves (two) came as a result of horrendous marking in the penalty area. If Newcastle wish to depart the Kirklees Stadium with three points they must be aggressive, focus on intercepting passes and stick with their man in the box.
