Newcastle United will benefit from a lenient schedule over the next few months, but can they go undefeated during this time period?

It is quite difficult for mid-table clubs to maintain a long run of positive form in the Premier League, but Newcastle United have a chance to do just that in October. After being handed a brutal schedule to start the 2018-19 campaign, Newcastle are close to seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Thus far, some notable opponents that Newcastle have played are Tottenham, Chelsea and Manchester City. This difficult string of matches will continue until October 6th as the Magpies still have to face two giants in Arsenal (Home, September 15th) and Manchester United (Away, October 6th).

Upon the conclusion of the clash with the Red Devils at Old Trafford, Newcastle will benefit from a lenient schedule that will enable the Magpies to climb the table. The question to ask now, however, is can Newcastle actually go undefeated between October and December?

Newcastle Can Go Undefeated

Looking at Newcastle’s list of fixtures between October and December, it is quite likely that Rafa Benitez will have a big smile on his face as his Magpies could go undefeated and climb the table. With that being said, the term “undefeated” does not imply that Newcastle will go out and win every match, but it does mean that their results will solely consist of victories and draws.

Why so confident? Well, the Magpies will play several mediocre and bottom-half clubs during this time period. Between October 20th and December 22nd, Newcastle will have the advantage over six opponents as they will be playing at St. James’ Park – with two matches in November played on Tyneside in back-to-back weeks.

Moreover, the most difficult opponent Newcastle will have to play on the road is the wealthy, yet inconsistent Everton FC. Newcastle will also benefit from two international breaks in October and November to better prepare for their mid-table opposition.
