Newcastle United have one of the most difficult schedules for the 2018-19 Premier League campaign.

The fixture list for the 2018-19 Premier League campaign was released yesterday and Newcastle United will have a difficult journey towards success. The Magpies were fortunate during the 2017-18 campaign as they did not face many giants all at once. This coming season, however, the Magpies will take on elite opponents in successive weeks to start the campaign.

After the first two months, Newcastle can smile again as they play a long line of more lenient opponents. Looking at the Magpies’ schedule, the keys to success this season will be centered on maintaining consistency and finding motivation each week.

August – October

The first two months of the season will be difficult for the Magpies as they take on the best clubs in a short amount of time. The good news is that Newcastle will play at St. James’ Park five times between August and October.

Newcastle will play the following opponents between August and October:

August 11 – Tottenham (H)

August 18 – Cardiff City (A)

August 25 – Chelsea (H)

September 1 – Manchester City (A)

September 15 – Arsenal (H)

September 22 – Crystal Palace (A)

September 29 – Leicester City (H)

October 6 – Manchester United (A)

October 20 – Brighton (H)

October 27 – Southampton (A)

November – January

There will be cold weather during this time period, but the Magpies must turn up the heat. November through January will provide Newcastle with a great opportunity to take points as the Magpies take on several mid-table sides. In addition, Newcastle will also take on all three newly-promoted clubs.

Newcastle will play the following opponents between November and January:

November 3 – Watford (H)

November 10 – A.F.C. Bournemouth (H)

November 24 – Burnley (A)

December 1 – West Ham United (H)

December 5 – Everton (A)

December 8 – Wolverhampton (H)

December 15 – Huddersfield Town (A)

December 22 – Fulham (H)

December 26 – Liverpool (A)

December 29 – Watford (A)

January 1 – Manchester United (H)

January 12 – Chelsea (A)

January 19 – Cardiff City (H)

January 30 – Manchester City (H)

February – May

The Magpies will enjoy a balanced schedule in the final months of the season with a good mix of inferior and superior opponents. Newcastle will most likely solidify their top flight status during this time period. It is worth mentioning that Newcastle will host five mid-table sides at St. James’ Park to conclude the season and this bodes well for the Magpies to take points.

Newcastle will play the following opponents between February and May:

February 2 – Tottenham (A)

February 9 – Wolverhampton (A)

February 23 – Huddersfield Town (H)

February 27 – Burnley (H)

March 2 – West Ham United (A)
