FIFA 18 provides us a simulated look at Newcastle United vs. Crystal Palace.

Ahead of today’s match, we simulated a fixture between Newcastle United against Crystal Palace. Both sides were lined up the same way they did in their previous fixtures.

More from Newcastle Toons

It was a dream start for Newcastle United at virtual St. James’ Park. After an Isaac Hayden interception, Ayoze Perez found Joselu in the box and he smashed a shot home in the 3rd minute. Ayoze would be the next Newcastle player to make a go at goal, but his shot went wide.

The majority of possession belonged to Newcastle, primarily up the left side between Javier Manquillo and Christian Atsu. Crystal Palace could not muster a dangerous attack against the Newcastle United defense. There were a couple crosses into the box, but both were easily caught by Rob Elliot.

At the half, it was Newcastle United up 1-0 on the scoreboard and 5-1 on shots. Palace did hold a slight edge in possession, 51% to 49%.

To start the second half, Crystal Palace came out the aggressors. Wilfried Zaha had an opportunity in the area, but got dispossessed before he could let a shot go. Not long after, Palace would equalize, as Luka Milivojevic fired a rocket past Elliot from just outside the penalty area. Former Newcastle United man Yohan Cabaye notched the assist. Elliot would make a massive save on Andros Townsend minutes later.

Next: Newcastle United should have high October expectations

After the hour mark, Jacob Murphy came on for an unusually ineffective Matt Ritchie. Mohamed Diame replaced Hayden in the 75th minute. Jonjo Shelvey found the substitute Murphy unmarked right in front of goal, but his shot clanked off the post. With a few moments left, Joselu departed in favor of Dwight Gayle, but the striker swap didn’t result in a winner. The match ended 1-1. Newcastle finished with 52% possession and seven total shots to Crystal Palace’s four. Javier Manquillo was the highest rated Newcastle man, while Milivojevic secured the honors for Palace.

Tune in to the real fixture later on today, which we hope doesn’t end level.
