What a result from the boys in the black and white! It was a hard-fought game that ended 1-0 for the Geordies, only the second win of the season so far. A good overall team performance. But what led Newcastle to the fantastic result? Let’s discuss.

Anthony Gordon

For me, Anthony Gordon was an integral part of this win. He has had a lot of people worrying on the internet when I have previously suggested he should start on the right over Almiron. Mainly the worry of whether he could fill in for the relentless press that Miggy supplies. But today showed us he can, while also supplying a lot more on the wing than what has been there in recent times this season. He was the one to get us the penalty which ended up winning us the game. Not only that but he did an amazing job of tracking back for the ball on the defensive side too. My man of the match performance would go to Gordon, a fantastic overall showing that ended up winning us the game.
