With the Championship season around the corner, Newcastle United has yet to sell or sign any players with the exception of a couple. Newcastle United has yet to make serious changes to its roster, and whether serious changes are on the way is still yet to be seen.

Last season we saw players struggle to find themselves, and struggle to retain form. Towards the end of the season, following the confirmation of Rafa Benitez’s appointment as the new manager of Newcastle United, players began to play like we’ve never seen.

Aleksandar Mitrovic began to score goals like we always wanted him to. Moussa Sissoko actually looked to care for once in his life. And we saw changes to the lineup where Benitez was not afraid to change things up.

Under Rafa, players are asked to give a damn. Something the players didn’t look to give when Steve McClaren was managing the club. I can only imagine Benitez walking into that dressing room and commanding respect of the players.

In the Championship, everyone at Newcastle United has a chance to grow and improve. While we’ve already began to see the improvements of some players, here is a look at five players who can have breakout seasons in the Championship.
