Newcastle United beat Crystal Palace on Saturday to give them a real chance of surviving relegation.
Andros Townsend scored a fantastic free kick, while Karl Darlow saved a Yohan Cabaye penalty in the second half. With Norwich City losing and Sunderland drawing, the Magpies moved out of the relegation zone for now.
The Black Cats and the Canaries both have a game in hand over the St. James’ Park side, but they are tricky fixtures against Everton and Watford.

Rafa Benitez’s men now travel to Aston Villa and then host Tottenham Hotspur at home in the final game of the season, and will be looking for at least three points and a draw from those two fixtures.
After the match, Benitez was reported by the BBC as saying: “We still have to play another two games. We will enjoy this weekend because we won and then we will focus on the next one against Aston Villa, which will be a tough one.
“The victory means a lot – it gives us momentum, confidence and a connection with the fans.”
