Newcastle United fans have torn into a regular starter on Twitter after their 3-0 win against Swansea City.

The Magpies beat the Swans at St. James’ Park, but Georginio Wijnaldum had another underwhelming performance – and many of the Toon Army aren’t happy about how he played.

Jamaal Lascelles, Moussa Sissoko and Andros Townsend all hit the net for the home side as they try to claw their way out of the relegation zone.

Earlier in the day, Sunderland did Newcastle a massive favour by beating Norwich City – which allowed the Magpies to close the gap on the fourth bottom side with their win.

After the game, Toon boss Rafa Benitez was reported by the BBC as saying: “The players that started were really good. And the other players who came on helped the team.

“Today we saw what we expect from this team. We have to show the same in the other games.”
