Newcastle United U21’s were thrashed 4-1 by Brightonand Hove Albion U21’s on Thursday night.

It’s fair to say the Magpies’ second string are having just as bad a time of it as the senior squad.

They are currently sitting in third bottom, and have only won once in the last 10 matches – and have conceded 12 goals in the last three games.

Swansea City managed to put five past the helpless Toon youngsters, whole Arsenal scored three during Jack Wilshere’s comeback game.

Now the Seagulls, who are actually below Newcastle in the league, have smashed four past Peter Beardsley’s outfit – and it’s a sorry reflection of the whole state of the club.

Former Real Madrid U19 player Jack Harper scored first for Brighton, before Jonah Ayunga, James Tilley and Joe Ward all hit the back of the net.

For the Magpies, only Luke Charman could grab one back, but it’s wasn’t enough as the away side romped to a win.
