Best pictures as Newcastle crumble against Southampton
Newcastle United slumped to an awful loss against Southampton in the Barclays Premier League.
Shane Long, Graziano Pelle and Victory Wanyama hit the back of the net for the home side, while Andros Townsend scored for the Magpies.
Long opened proceedings before the five minute mark after some shambolic defending from Steven Taylor, while Pelle and Wanyama both scored before half time.
Townsend pulled one back thanks to a cracking strike that arrowed past Fraser Forster, but there was precious little attacking intent from the away team.

The defeat leaves Newcastle in second bottom, but it’s the heartless manner of the loss that will trouble fans the most.
After the game, manager Rafa Benitez urged the Toon Army to get behind the side: “It important that everybody continues to believe,” the BBC reported that he said.
“If we can control these things then things will change. It’s not the time to criticise.”
