Newcastle United fans have reacted to Mike Ashley’s shocking interview with the Mirror.

The club owner spoke on a variety of issues surrounding the club, and at one point even admitted that he wished he’d never got into football.

It’s been a tough time on Tyneside for Ashley, who could be about to oversee their second relegation to the Championship in only six years.

The Chronicle reported that the Sports Direct magnate said: “Do I regret getting into football? The answer is yes.

“I have had tonnes of fun in it but I haven’t been able to make the difference I wanted to in football.”

The Londoner also went on to claim that he has no effect on how the football club is run, something Toon fans will find hard to swallow.

“I have virtually nil affect on Newcastle United, in reality, because I only pick the board,” he explained.
