Newcastle United were sparred a loss against Sunderland thanks to an Aleksandar Mitrovic goal.

The Serbian striker rose tall and headed home after a Georginio Wijnaldum cross late in the game to snatch a point – and possibly keep the Magpies in the Premier League.

After the goal, and his celebration, Mitrovic clashed heads with Black Cats defender Lamine Koné, and had to be taken off the field for concussion.

Despite being clearly injured, the forward fought club doctors and medics to be allowed back on the pitch – on which they stood firm and denied the youngster.
