Best pictures from Andros Townsend’s Newcastle debut
Andros Townsend made his Newcastle United debut against Everton on Wednesday night.
The former Tottenham Hotspur winger could not prevent the Magpies sliding to another league defeat, nor could he prove to be the creative spark the side need.
It was the first 90 minutes Townsend has completed in the Premier League this season, and head coach Steve McClaren will hope his new man will find his feet and fitness quickly – before Newcastle run out of time to save their season.

Seydou Doumbia made the bench for the game, but didn’t feature as McClaren made all three substitutes after 55 minutes.
After the game, the BBC reported that the former Derby County manager said: “In the first half you could see that the Everton players and supporters were nervous, we didn’t take advantage of that, we weren’t aggressive enough.

“In the second half we had a go but it wasn’t enough. Too many players were below par.”
