Five of Mike Williamson’s most memorable moments
Newcastle United have confirmed the permanent transfer of Mike Williamson to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
The 32-year-old has been with the Magpies since signing from Portsmouth in 2010, and has made an incredible 150 league appearances for them over five years.
He has slipped down the St. James’ Park pecking order in over the last few seasons, and hasn’t played in the league for Newcastle this campaign.

Despite his limitations, the Toon Army nicknamed him Iron Mike – part ironic, part in admiration for his never say die attitude.
Williamson might not have been the most gifted defender, but he gave his all and many Magpies’ fans recognised that positive trait.
Speaking about his move to Wolves, the Chronicle reported that the defender said: “I just want to enjoy my football now and be a part of something where we are pushing for the Premier League.
“That is where I want to be and I believe the club has all the tools to be in there. That is everyone’s ultimate ambition here, and it is mine as well.”
