Newcastle United have finally signed Tottenham Hotspur winger Andros Townsend.

The two clubs agreed a fee of £12m for the England international earlier in the month, after Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino personally intervened to request chairman Daniel Levy accept the Toon offer.

Head coach Steve McClaren has been trying to increase the quality of the squad, as long as the amount of players with Premier League experience – and this signing fits the bill perfectly.

The 24-year-old only started 22 games for Spurs during his time at the club, as well as making 28 substitute appearance.

He will welcome the chance to make a clean start at a new club, after Pochettino froze him out of the first team squad at White Hart Lane.
