Newcastle United lost to Watford for the third time this season.

The Magpies have now been beaten twice in the league and once in the FA Cup by the same one goal margin, as they failed to make their chances count.

The Hornets took the lead through Odion Ighalo, before defender Craig Cathcart increased the home side’s advantage.

Defender Jamaal Lascelles, who was starting his first league game for Newcastle, headed home from a corner – but the Tynesiders could not find an equaliser.

The result drops the Magpies back into the relegation zone, one point below Swansea City, who have a game in hand.
