Newcastle United: Alan Pardew’s 40 signings ranked and rated
Alan Pardew signed 40 players during his time as manager of Newcastle United from January 2011 until January 2015.
The current Crystal Palace manager had very little say in the players that were brought in during his time at the club, while the transfer policy thrust upon him by owner Mike Ashley meant that he had very little spending power.
That lack of market muscle is indicated by the fact that hardly any of these 40 players was a big success with the Magpies. Indeed, most of the players were anything but house hold names – they were bought with an eye on the future and their sell on value.

In the end, Pardew left the club for the Eagles in no better shape than he found it – and with a squad in dire need of a serious overhaul.
