Newcastle United are understood to be planning a serious of raids for attacking players.

A report in the Chronicle said that the club feel they are well stocked in the defensive department, but need extra creativity and attacking instinct in the squad.

The lack of strength in depth was highlighted by the recall of youngster Ivan Toney from his productive loan spell with Barnsley.

While the club have Yoan Gouffran fit and Emmanuel Riviere nearly ready to begin training following his injury, they clearly feel those two do not offer enough.
