Fans react to Ivan Toney being recalled from Barnsley
Ivan Toney has been recalled from his loan spell at Barnsley by parent club Newcastle United.
After an injury sustained by Papiss Cisse during the Magpies’ 1-1 draw with Aston Villa, the club have decided to recall Toney to act as cover in case Ayoze Perez or Aleksandar Mitrovic suffers a fate similar to Cisse.
The former Northampton Town forward had only played four games for the Tykes, but was just beginning to find his grove – netting twice in his last three appearances.

The 19-year-old suffered the same fate as promising goalkeeper Freddie Woodman, whose time with League Two Crawley Town was cut short after Tim Krul and Karl Darlow were both struck down with injury.
Woodman was called up as cover, but spent the time warming the bench before being sent back to the U21 side. Tony will be hoping to avoid a similar fate, but unless there is another raft of injuries it looks all too likely that he won’t see much first team action.
