Newcastle have been better than we give them credit for

Newcastle United have been playing better football than the fans are giving them credit for, says head coach Steve McClaren.

Despite the horrible performances against Leicester City and Crystal Palace, the Magpies have actually been on a semi-decent run of form – which is coming to a head after two wins a row.

Another victory will make it three, and top off a very good December for the former Derby County boss.

The club tweeted that he said: “We’re sixth in the form guide over the last eight games. Consistency is key and getting consistent performance is a platform.”
