Newcastle United may have just beaten Liverpool and Tottenham Hotspur, but that doesn’t mean they are out of the relegation fight.
They still need to invest in January if they are to avoid another late season decline of the sort they suffered under John Carver – and although Steve McClaren is a much more polished coach, it could still happen.
One of the areas in which the team are weak is out wide – with Florain Thauvin out of form, Gabriel Obertan and Rolando Aarons injured and Moussa Sissoko inconsistent, the supply to the strikers is hard to predict. When you have two in Papiss Cisse and Aleksandar Mitrovic who need those balls into the box, this represents a major weak spot for McClaren’s side.
