Striker: Alan Shearer

Of course Alan Shearer makes this list as he is the all-time leading goalscorer in Premier League history. In 405 appearances with Newcastle United, he scored 206 times, averaging more than a goal every other game.

A leader on and off the pitch, Shearer was the most expensive transfer in the club’s history, and the at the time of the transfer, the most expensive in the world of football when the Magpies paid £15 million for his services. In today’s currency, that’s over £25m, which is more than the club is willing to spend on a single player in their current struggle for a return to Premier League dominance.

Let’s not forget his international success, with 30 goals in 63 appearances for the England national team. Alan Shearer is far and away the greatest striker to ever appear in a Magpie uniform and is arguably the greatest Premier League player of all time.
