Charlie Austin has been linked with Newcastle United since the transfer window opened in the summer – and those rumours just won’t go away.

The Magpies are missing out on a proven Premier League goalscorer, although Aleksandar Mitrovic is finding some form after his suspension. Reports suggest the club could move for him at a cut price deal in January, although whether he will want to join the club remains to be seen.

Austin is now a proven player, with 44 goals in 78 starts for QPR – including 18 in the Premier League last season.

Before that he hit 32 in 51 starts for Swindon Town and 41 in 69 for Burnley. His lower league days are harder to find video for, so this piece doesn’t include any goals for Swindon.

The English striker has a thing for long range strikes against Charlton Athletic, again whom he fired home a couple of thunderbolts from range.

He is currently out for four weeks after suffering a hamstring injury, although that shouldn’t impact on clubs looking at him in the winter.

There was some doubts over his fitness, but that relates to a long standing shoulder problem that hasn’t stopped him from playing in recent years. In fact, with 192 league starts since 2009 (32 per season, on average), you could say that he is in perfect shape for the rigours of football.
